I barely remember half of what I wrote in my previous post, but most likely anything that I offered there didn’t come to fruition. The reason? I’ve been really busy. No, seriously. Ridiculously and insanely busy like never before.
I can be busy for several weeks, but three months in a row is too much. It’s been years since the last time I didn’t update in three months, and even then, at least I returned with some relevant update, but this time I bring nothing, nada, zero. You get the idea. Yet, I felt the urge to at least write this and say hello. I mean, it’s not like I’ve abandoned this site or something.
Such an idea has never crossed my mind. I went for the trouble of getting a new host, a new domain, move everything, and actually pay for this, so it wouldn’t make much sense to just throw everything away, would it? At least 3 months ago I was full of projects for my site. But then I got a new job.
These guys come to my country and ask me about video games. I tell them, yeah sure I can make them. I fire Fall of 21XX on their Vista laptop, and they get impressed. They tell me “you’re hired”, but here’s the catch, you have to move to Panama. I give it some thought, and then I’m like “screw it, let’s do this”. It’s not like I’m ever going to make video games here in my country, at least not in my job at the moment, neither in the foreseeable future, so probably I finally can give good use to all the stuff I’ve taught myself for years. Besides the wages, they offer me an excellent job environment, like those geeky game development studios and stuff. I buy it easily, I wanted to travel anyway.
Now before you congratulate me, the job is nothing like I’d expected. But that’s a matter of another post. I had to cancel the English course I was taking, a loan I was getting, and of course I had to leave all my tools, just to travel. Now I expected this place to be some paradise of affordable technology, but when I find that most stuff I need is as expensive as in Ecuador, I got highly disappointed. I’m still struggling with the idea of buying a scanner, something that I won’t be able to bring under my arm whenever I return to Ecuador. Tablet? I still have to see one here. Overall I’m doing fine here, but unable to produce much for my site until December when I expect to return to my country.
I’m kind of back to the stone age here. Back in 1998, with no scanner, no tablet, and the rule of not buying anything large enough to be left here (I’m about to fall for the scanner, don’t give up your hopes). Even buying art supplies has proven challenging enough here. But when I see people updating their pages, showing off their art and creations on the internet, improving, and publishing more and more, oh god, I can’t take it anymore, I just have to draw.
So, here I am. Writing text.
Is text everything I’ll be able to offer for now? I don’t know. I have plenty of things I want to write about, just to have some memories. Did you know I have a pseudo blog? The best thing I can do for now is taking pictures of my desktop, and post them in my gallery. I have to be really desperate to find that content acceptable.
