Bass Abyss v0.9.6: Here comes a new challenger

Newcomer: Fire Man

October is still Fire Man’s month.

I’ve added Fire Man to the list of characters at your disposal on Bass Abyss. The game is slowly taking the shape I want and meeting its purpose. More stuff coming soon. But okay, on the current update:

Fire Storm! The Fire Man sprite was provided by Joshua Soto like 3 years ago (if not more). It’s a shame I’ve been so busy that he had to wait so much to see it, but well, better late than never I suppose. So, on the road to Incoming Storm 2 (aka Fire Man vs the Ice Warriors which I still haven’t canned, I’ll do it even if it take me other 20 years), I’ll be testing Fire Man’s gameplay in this project.

Programming wise, as Vile, Fire Man is another Bass clone (who in return is a Fire Man clone of my previous games). Tweaks here and there, I think these are his more remarkable characteristics:

– Fire Man won’t die instantly if he touches lava. But don’t abuse it, it still harms him. The magma of eruptions will do kill him at once.

– His shots have a wider range in general.

– He can shoot while dashing (sliding).

– He can take some more damage than Bass (I think).

– Fire Man can’t double jump.

– Hair of Fire, gotta love it.

Serioulsy, don't abuse Fire Man's lava endurance.Because of all the testing required, I’m afraid that I didn’t have time to create many maps for this update. Only 2 new maps. The boss battle that I’ve prepared for this update took it’s time to plan, code and test too, so don’t complain. (And remember, if the battle is too difficult, you can always use cheap Ride Armor Vile to clear the way). Ok, honestly I had that battle coded like 2 years ago with an old engine, I guess you’ll realize for which character. So, it’s a sort of joy to finally publish it.

Now I’ll try to squash a lot of bugs. I have a very long list.
