You didn’t really think I was going to make a game exclusively for Bass, right?
Vile Mode
Yes, after my multiple experiments the past year, I contemplated the possibility of have a game with multiple characters. Vile is just the beginning.
Regarding Vile, well, it wouldn’t be fun to play with him if he wasn’t different of Bass. So, let’s summarize his characteristics:
The good
– He’s using his ride armor, so he can take a lot more of damage than Bass.
– He can walk over spikes. Spikes on the walls don’t hurt him either.
– He can dash longer.
– He can kill almost anything with a single punch.
The bad
– He can’t double jump.
– Lava still kills him.
– Spikes on his head kill him too. Well, this one just sounded logic to me.
Now, whether it’s easier to play with Vile or not, I’ll let you judge that. Personally I’ve finished all the current levels with him.
Which remind me, this will add a new kind of bug. Map bugs. You see, I’ve done my best to test the maps, but probably you’ll get stuck somewhere, say, in a pit with spikes where usually Bass would die, Vile survives but can’t get out because the walls are too high. Stuff like that. If you find such cases, just pause the game and hit the “Exit to Title†button. This will finish the game and will allow you to start a new one. Then, please let me know about the problem and I’ll change the layout of the map in the next release.
There are 2 new maps in this update. Now there are a total of 10 levels, and I’m no near of push the tile engine to its limits. So, with the ability of add new characters, enemies and levels, I expect this game to keep growing for a good while.
The Ugly
So, can you make ANY character playable? PLEASE USE MINE!
Well, while the possibility exists to add new characters, it’s a really laborious task. So, please no requests for now. I’m not even finished with the things that I want to make for this game. Seriously, I have plenty of stuff planned, bugs to solve and features to code. So, I must be realistic and don’t offer that I’ll add anyone’s character during development.
By the way, this was another factor to dump the storyline element in this game. I mean, while I don’t deny that someone can come with some clever videoland tale that justify the presence of all these characters, I’m just not focused in that. This project is all about gaming. Good old 2D classic gaming.
Have fun!
