In this update, 2 new maps.
The game also saves your progress automatically. Play now!
What does the game save?
I’ve implemented this save feature thinking in the casual gamer that just want to advance a bit every session.
So, every time you quit in the midst of the game, your current level is saved. Next time you start a new game, it will ask you from which level you’d like to start. You can resume from any level you’ve already unlocked. But if you start from any level different than 1, the scores will be disabled for that session. So use this for practice or advance quicker, and complete the full game when you feel like submitting your records.
This is a nice feature the original Deep Abyss had. It’s very handy when you just want to beat that annoying difficult level without having to play the whole game from start.
Keyboard input at the main menu
Yes, I know it’s a pain to have to point and click in the New Game button, so I finally added keyboard support to it. Use arrows to select and press Enter to accept. Unfortunately the other menus/interfaces still require the usual mouse input to navigate them. I expect to solve that in the future too.
What about the enemies?
Ok, this has priority number 1 for the next update. I’ve been thinking a lot of this project but I can’t really say I’ve been working on it during these weeks because of the World Cup. But it’s almost over, so I’ll have more time to model the enemy system.
Anyway, I can see some insanely high records now. My speed run record was the test entry. I was worried to have overdone it because I stood in first place for several days. Good to see I’ve got beaten eventually. I know this won’t sound modest but I wasn’t even trying to do that good, heh, I just played quick to check if the game was working.
Have fun!
